Nearly three years after it first announced the game, Sega has finally pulled back the curtain on the newest Crazy Taxi game. Titled Crazy Taxi: World Tour, it not only features a return to the streets of San Francisco, but the iconic Offspring song “All I Want.” Set to release in 2027, the game will be coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2! Hooray!

While the announcement trailer didn’t show direct footage, it gives us a good idea of what World Tour will play like. This is basically the original Crazy Taxi redone for a new generation with updated vehicle designs. You still have the topless cab, but now you’ll be transporting passengers with wacky stipulations such as holding a stack of pizzas. The trailer ends with the hints of more to come, leaning into the World Tour subtitle. Sadly, the Steam store page makes a note that Generative AI was used in the game, even if it’s limited to a support role. Bummer.

Why was this held off for the Xbox Games Showcase? Probably because the last official Crazy Taxi game, Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller, was an original Xbox exclusive. Sega and Microsoft have a history, and even though this is a multiplatform game, the series owes some gratitude to the Xbox brand. At any rate, at least we’re not too far out from the return of his classic arcade series.
