After being delayed earlier this year to an undisclosed date, Koei Tecmo has announced that Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will be hitting PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1st, 2026. A total remake of the second game in the Dynasty Warriors series (don’t think about the number. Trust me), there is at least some bad news with this latest announcement. The game was originally expected to launch on both Switch 1 and 2, but Koei Tecmo has confirmed that the original Switch will not be receiving this remake.

That’s not the most unexpected news to hear as this remake is built on Unreal Engine 5, which does not have Switch 1 compatibility. The visual overhaul is also far better looking than even Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which is exclusively on Switch 2. Koei Tecmo offered apologies to fans by saying, “We sincerely apologize for this news and hope you can still experience this release on other platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2.”

At least in terms of content, this remaster will include everything from the original Dynasty Warriors 3 and its pseudo expansion, Xtreme Legends. Koei Tecmo has even thrown in a new character, Ziluan, from DW Origins. If you pre-order the game before September 30th, 2026, you’ll receive the “Retro-Style Red Hare Saddle” to use on your mounts. That’s fun, I guess.
