Last night on Twitter, legendary creator Shigeru Miyamoto sent a message to fans that the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie has had its release date moved up a week. Previously scheduled to release on May 7, 2027, it will now be debuting in theaters on April 30, 2027. This comes after the film was already delayed, being moved from March 2027 to the announced May 7 date.

In the tweet, Miyamoto writes, “I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.”

The likely cause for this is that post-production has gone a bit smoother than everyone anticipated. It could also be a case of scheduling around other film releases at the time, with April 30th being either a freer date or one with less obvious competition.
