Resident Evil Requiem has been breaking records left and right for Capcom since its release in late February 2026. Now, the company has shared that the game has reached seven million total sales in just under two months, solidifying it as the fastest-selling entry in the storied series. The news comes from a social media post by the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi.
Listed among his Instagram stories is an image of the dev team sitting down with two cakes announcing the news. One, decorated with black frosting and adorned with Leon, says, “Welcome to 7m Leon!” The other, a white cake with Grace on it, reads, “Grace. Congratulations on 7million!” I appreciate the attention to detail on the cookies, which feature not only the characters, but Leon’s axe and a zombie hand.

For reference, the previous fastest-selling game from the Resident Evil series to hit seven million sales was 2023’s Resident Evil 4. It reached the milestone after a year and some change, which is certainly much slower than two months. That doesn’t point to one game being better than the other, just that Resident Evil has become a mega-franchise under its new direction. With rumors of some more remakes in the next few years, it doesn’t seem like that momentum will be slowing down.
