Developer Playtonic is happy to announce that Yooka-Replaylee finally runs at 60 fps on Nintendo Switch 2. One of the most requested features from fans, a new “Performance Mode” option has been added to the game that lowers the output resolution, but increases the framerate to 60 fps for smoother action. That’s a major update from the original 30 fps the game shipped with, which can feel incredibly sluggish for a platformer.
If you were actually fine with the original frame rate, that is now available in the options as “Fidelity Mode.” This is similar to how games have been handled on PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X|S, where a toggle in the menu will offer performance or visual fidelity. The option isn’t foreign to Switch players, but the original Switch was often incapable of providing such toggles. While crisp graphics are nice, snappier and more responsive controls are definitely the way to go.
The patch is now live on the eShop and should download when you boot the game. Yooka-Replaylee is currently on sale for $23.99, so if you’re in the mood for classic N64 platforming action, now’s a good time to jump in.
