Blaze Entertainment, the company behind the popular Evercade handheld console, has announced a new revision of its portable device. Dubbed the “Evercade Nexus,” it’s the first device in the Evercade line to feature dual analog sticks. It also sports things like a 5.89” IPS display, wireless headphone support, TATE mode, and what Blaze calls “EverSync.” That last one is the ability to share games wirelessly to other Evercade consoles, allowing for impromptu multiplayer like GameShare on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The real kicker, though, is the announcement of a new cartridge which contains Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Likely based on the existing Xbox Live Arcade ports, these new versions of Banjo’s N64 outings will feature widescreen support, an overhauled camera system, D-Pad controls, and unlockable content. It’s also the only other time the games have been re-released in a physical format since the N64, which is great for collectors.
Seeing as how the Nexus is merely an upgraded variant of the existing Evercade line, it will be compatible with the 80+ cartridges released for the system thus far. Priced at $199, the Nexus will come packed with the Banjo double cart, a USB-C to A charging cable, and a quick start guide. If you want to relive some memories of the N64 games, retailer Funstock will be selling a limited “Nexus 64” edition that sports an N64 color scheme.

In a statement to press, Blaze CEO Andrew Byatt said, “Since launching Evercade in 2020, we’ve built a passionate community that values physical experiences, gaming history, and classic games. Nexus is the result of six years of listening and learning, delivering features our players have consistently asked for. It’s the evolution of Evercade, and a product we can’t wait for people to experience.”
