A free playable demo for Nintendo’s upcoming quirky life sim, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, is now available on the Switch eShop.

Titled Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – Welcome Version, the demo lets players create up to three Mii characters. A hamster costume can also be unlocked, and users can transfer the outfit and their Miis over to the full game.

VGC reported that the hamster costume is available in the full game, so players who skip the demo won’t miss out on any content.

Nintendo also released a lengthy new trailer for the game, which gives an overview of its character customization, interactions between Miis, shopping and decorating, and more.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will launch on Nintendo Switch on April 16th, 2026.
