Despite receiving some surprising love in the last year, it looks like Nintendo is just about done with Splatoon 3 updates.

In a post on Twitter, the official Splatoon account revealed that the upcoming Eggstra Work event for Splatoon 3’s “Salmon Run” mode will be the final one to feature new job scenarios. For those unfamiliar, the scenarios were merely the order in which waves of enemies spawned, with Splatoon 3 receiving nearly four years of different configurations. After February 15th, 2026, all Eggstra Work events will reuse past job scenarios.

The final event will run from February 13th, 2026, at 4 p.m. PT until February 15th, 2026, at 4 p.m. PT. It will take place on the Bonerattle Arena map, with teams who finish in the top three spots receiving an unspecified prize. After this date, Splatoon 3’s rotating special events will finally come to a close, with any future updates likely being balance related.

I wouldn’t look into this news as an omen of what’s to come, but it does seem interesting that Nintendo would end regular Salmon Run updates while Splatoon Raiders is still cooking. With Raiders being a story-focused spin-off game that seemingly has a strong co-op component, I do wonder if Salmon Run will live again in the not so distant future.
