With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond having been in players’ hands for almost two weeks now, it was inevitable that fans would start to dig through its files to uncover hidden secrets. While it seems most of the game’s content is accessible through in-game means, developer Retro Studios seemingly cut over 30 minutes of dialogue from the game that would have featured during the base camp segments. Considering how divisive the NPC interactions have been, I imagine keeping this dialogue would have resulted in a far harsher reception to the game.

Having not played Prime 4: Beyond myself, I’m not entirely sure who these characters are, but the majority of the dialogue happens between VUE-995 and other members of Samus’ ragtag team. Everyone’s favorite, MacKenzie, also has a lot of extra dialogue, though the majority of these interactions tend to be humorous rather than informative or story based. VUE discusses how much he can bench press, for instance, which… seems a little pointless in a Metroid game.

You can watch the video on YouTube, which was uploaded a few days back by Bearborg. The unused dialogue starts at 7:38, which makes me believe that plans were very different for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond before someone stepped in to right the ship.
