I can’t believe that Nintendo has continued to support Tetris 99 for over six years, but just when you think you’ve heard the last of the best battle royale game on the market, Tetris 99 crops up again. This weekend, the 50th Maximus Cup event will be run with a brand-new theme up for grabs. Kirby Air Riders takes the stage, and players will need to earn 100 points over a four-day period to keep it indefinitely.
Running from December 5th, 2025, at 2 a.m. ET until December 9th, 2025, at 2 am ET, players will simply need to jump into online battles and rack up some points to adorn their Tetris boards with Kirby’s wonderful face. Earning 100 points is relatively easy. You could simply win a match and instantly get it, but scoring in specific brackets will net you more. Since I’ve never seen it reported anywhere else, here is how your placement will break down with regard to points.
- 1st place gets 100 points
- 2nd place gets 50 points
- 3rd place gets 30 points
- 4th-10th get 20 points
- 11th-30th get 15 points
- 31st-50th get 10 points
- 51st-90th get 5 points
- 91st-99th get 1 point
We all have bad games, so it’s not uncommon or shameful to receive just a single point. Even so, it’s not difficult to rack up your total if you consistently score 50th. It would only take you 10 overall games, which is fun to do and lets you stare at Kirby for a bit longer.
