In a not so surprising bit of news, publisher Skydance Games has announced that the upcoming action title Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed “beyond early 2026.” Posted on Twitter, the company stated the game has been shifted to an unspecified release window and will be missing its previously scheduled 2025 release.

“To fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026,” reads the post. “The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”

Revealed more than a year ago, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra looks like an interesting take on the characters of Captain America and Black Panther. Both will be battling Nazis during the thick of World War 2, and both will need to overcome their differences in culture and approach to take down a greater threat. While platforms haven’t been announced, we assumed the game would probably wind up on Nintendo Switch 2 as it was originally planned for a release in late 2025.

With the game being directed by Amy Henning of Soul Reaver, Uncharted, and Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City fame, it’s bound to be very tightly paced and high-quality throughout. Here’s hoping the delay gives the devs the extra time they need to polish this.
