Just in time for the holiday season, Sega has announced that the digital version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Nintendo Switch 2 will be hitting the eShop on December 4th, 2025. Priced at $69.99, owners of either the physical or digital Switch version can upgrade their copy for $10. During its first week of sale, that upgrade price will be reduced to $5 to incentivize people to make the jump. If you’d rather wait for a physical Switch 2 version, which does include the full game on a cartridge, that will be coming sometime in early 2026.

In another great move, all progress from the Switch version will carry over to the Switch 2 port. Sega specifically states for players who buy the upgrade, though it seems likely that anyone opting for the cartridge will also be able to continue their save files. It’s a welcomed change from other recent Sega cross-generation releases such as Sonic x Shadow Generations and even Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, which are otherwise separate SKUs of the same game.

To take advantage of the discounted upgrade price, you’ll need to buy the pack between December 3rd at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and December 10th at 8 p.m. ET | 5 p.m. PT. That’s not a bad deal, especially if you can find CrossWorlds on sale for Switch in the coming weeks.
