With a little under a month to go before Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases, Nintendo has uploaded a new trailer simply titled “Survive” that sets the stage well. Containing a mixture of some cutscenes and gameplay, this new trailer gives off the impression that Samus’ latest adventure is going to be a tough one. I’m particularly fond of the bit where she’s shooting at blue-ish creatures in what looks like a snow storm.
What’s really astonishing is that the 4K trailer is running at a completely consistent 60 fps. There is no doubt in my mind that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be utilizing DLSS, but I still would have figured there to be a slight blurriness to the visuals. Instead, this looks like legitimate 4K capture, and it should result in the best looking Switch 2 game of the year (if not for the entire console’s lifespan). That it runs so well really does highlight how capable the Switch 2 is when used to its fullest potential.
When does Metroid Prime 4 release?
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be hitting both Switch and Switch 2 on December 4th, 2025. The game will likely be a technical showcase for the original console, but its Switch 2 version could be an early contender for those technically advanced game on a Nintendo platform.
