Roughly one month ago, Nintendo announced that it would be hosting its annual Halloween Splatfest (aka Splatoween) in Splatoon 3 with the question: Which would be the best friend? The three choices were a Zombie, a Skeleton, or a Ghost. As you can tell from the headline, Zombies managed to pull out the victory, and I’m not convinced they didn’t just eat the players who bet against them. It would be perfectly in line with what a zombie does.
As the official Japanese Splatoon Twitter account revealed, Zombies pulled out a victory with a score of 455 points. Skeletons only managed 120 while Ghosts put up a respectable 295 points. I went with Ghosts, personally, but I can understand the Zombie love. Zombies are funny, they sometimes walk slowly (unless we’re going by 28 Days Later rules), and you can take them out easily. A ghost you can’t quite get rid of unless you call the Ghostbusters. I’m not sure if they are available in my area.

We aren’t through with 2025 just yet, so expect at least one more major Splatfest in Splatoon 3 to ring the year in. I haven’t really participated in many Splatfests since getting Splatoon 3, but it’s fun to jump back into the fray now and then. The fantastic Nintendo Switch 2 update also makes the game look incredible on a proper 4K display, which is certainly nice.
