Dotemu has revealed that Marvel Cosmic Invasion, the upcoming beat-em-up developed by Tribute Games, will release on PC and consoles on December 1st, 2025. Alongside the date, a new trailer confirms that the final two characters for the game will be Iron Man and Phoenix, rounding out a roster that has fan-favorite characters, icons of the Silver Age of comics, and some off-kilter choices.

It’s hard to really describe what Iron Man and Phoenix bring to the table because Cosmic Invasion is a fairly simple game at its core. Being a beat-em-up, it doesn’t have overly complex controls and through the demo released a few weeks back, I can tell you that the basic controls are the same for each character. Think of how Super Smash Bros. handles different movesets and you’ll be pretty close. Each character has a specific weight and speed to them, but you’re not pressing different buttons to execute anything. It’s a solid foundation for a game that should make for an endlessly replayable little romp.

One of the best aspects of Cosmic Invasion is the animation work done for the sprites. Mirroring a lot of what Capcom did for its Marvel Vs. Capcom series characters are drawn and colored with clear reverence to Jack Kirby’s original designs. As such, Cosmic Invasion looks the part when it comes to being an official Marvel game. It also does well to avoid the franchise fatigue that the MCU is currently facing, which has characters portrayed with darker tones and more realistic proportions.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 this December.
