One of the most highly-anticipated games headed to the Nintendo Switch this year is undoubtedly Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. In fact, it’s been that way for almost a decade now, ever since its initial announcement all the way back in 2017. While it’s been a long wait, it has undoubtedly been worth it, and thanks to a new trailer in last week’s Nintendo Direct, that seems more true than ever. Not only did we get a new look at the game and how it shakes up the usual Metroid Prime formula, but most importantly of all, we finally have a confirmed release date!

The trailer kicks off with a glimpse of an ominous-looking structure in the middle of a thunderstorm. Shortly thereafter, we get a look at something new Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is bringing to the table, that being Samus’ new bike called Vi-O-La. Where exactly this fancy new vehicle comes from remains to be seen, but it certainly looks like a fun addition as we get a glimpse at how open and massive the world of Viewros really is. There’s even combat while riding, making this look to be an extremely fun new take on the genre.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond release date

Of course, that wasn’t all that was shown off here. Among the rest of the gameplay footage and a brief new look at the returning Sylux, we got some exciting release date news. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set for release on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4th, 2025. In addition, an artbook for the game is coming out on October 28th. That’s not even the end of it though, as to wrap it all up we got confirmation of three new amiibo for the game to release alongside it!

For all of those out there who have been eagerly awaiting the release of Metroid Prime 4, it’s finally almost here. Now with a known release date and even more to look forward to thanks to today’s trailer, the excitement has truly hit a new level. Mark your calendars for December 4th, get in those pre-orders, and get ready to join Samus in her latest adventure through the world of Viewros!
