During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo kicked off festivities for Super Mario’s 40th anniversary by not only revealing the title for the next Mario movie, but a compilation pack of both Galaxy games for Switch. As the title would suggest, this combo pack includes both of the Galaxy games and is confirmed for release both physically and digitally.
While this is definitely exciting, it does bring up the question of why Nintendo is releasing Galaxy on Nintendo Switch 1 a second time. That seems kind of redundant considering the game was included in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but then Nintendo unceremoniously delisted that version from the eShop four years ago. The physical versions also ceased being sold, so it’s not like you can actually find copies of Galaxy on Switch.
Regardless, Super Mario Galaxy 1 + Galaxy 2 will be available on October 12th, 2025. No price was mentioned during the Direct stream.
