In a new report from Bloomberg, it has been stated that Nintendo held back the launch of the Switch 2 hardware in order to “perfect the games that would accompany” it. Many speculated ahead of its release that Nintendo was pushing the Switch 2 launch date back to ensure there was enough stock on shelves for customers to buy. Some also suggested it was being done to create a solid lineup of launch titles. While the answer is probably a mixture of that, it was really Nintendo’s dedication to perfection that kept the console from releasing earlier.

Anonymous sources spoke to Bloomberg about the situation and stated that Nintendo “repeatedly pushed back plans for the Switch 2’s launch after its designers asked for more time.” While analysts thought this would negatively affect the launch sales of the console, we already know that isn’t true. The Switch 2 has sold over eight million units in roughly three months and is on track to actually hit that fabled 15 million in a year. Nintendo declined to comment on Bloomberg’s report, but it does make sense.

Even if Nintendo won’t admit that the Switch 2 launch was pushed back time and again, there’s ample evidence to convince us that is the truth.
