Nintendo of Taiwan announced today that the eShop will open its virtual doors on September 9th, 2025, for the region. It’s hard to believe Nintendo has been selling the Switch in the region without a digital presence for this long (and Nintendo of China is even set to close its eShop next year), but I guess regulations in the area prevented it from happening. Whatever the case, our fellow Taiwanese Nintendo fans will finally be able to download games to their consoles in the coming weeks.
A brief post on the official Nintendo website states that a list of available software will be published in the near future. Fans can look forward to buying full games, getting “add-on content,” and even grabbing Switch Online Coupons (which, seemingly, is the same thing as the Game Vouchers the company will be winding down in the US early next year). There isn’t a mention of Switch Online apps or even the paid membership option, so that could be launching at a different date in the future.
For now, if you’re in Taiwan and have been waiting to download games, your patience is about to pay off.
