After what seems like an eternity, Team Cherry is finally ready to unleash Hollow Knight: Silksong on the world. “How ready,” you might ask? How about two weeks from now?
During today’s “special presentation” for Silksong, Team Cherry announced that the hotly anticipated sequel (which originally started as a sort of side game) will be releasing on September 4th, 2025. As we’ve previously reported, the game will have a native Switch 2 edition, though Nintendo’s second hybrid console wasn’t even an idea when Silksong was first announced. That’s bizarre to think about.
The presentation trailer didn’t reveal anything fans of Hollow Knight wouldn’t have expected from this followup. Silksong will retain the dark aesthetic, fast-paced combat, and deep exploration that its predecessor contained. Since a lot of Hollow Knight is built on exploration and personal experience, it’s hard to convey what makes Silksong so interesting in a two-minute trailer. We’re not going to know how the game has turned out until we’re playing it. Reception from the Gamescom demo has been positive, though.
