With less than a month to go before its release, Nintendo has uploaded a new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s Nintendo Switch 2 update. Alongside the expected frame rate and resolution improvements, Forgotten Land will also be getting an expansion in the form of “Star-Crossed World,” which brings new levels, remixed levels, new enemies, and an even more challenging boss rush mode. It’s not really a new game, all things told, but it’s a cool addition for fans of Kirby’s first 3D outing.

As the trailer details, included with all the above-mentioned features will be three new “Mouthful Modes” that Kirby can transform into. These include “Spring Mouth,” “Gear Mouth,” and “Sign Mouth,” which feel so natural that I almost mistakenly believed they were already in the game. Gear Mouth seems kind of redundant considering Kirby can fly everywhere, but Sign Mouth looks like it will lead to some fun little challenges. Star-Crossed World also introduces a whole host of new collectible gacha figurines, so that will eat up tons of time for completionists.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed Worlds will be launching on August 28th, 2025. You can either get it physically as a Switch 2 cartridge (which includes the Switch 1 version), or download an upgrade pack if you already own the Switch game.
