It’s hard to believe Guilty Gear Strive has been out for four years, but we’re nearing the end of the fourth season already. Lucy, a crossover character from the anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners, will be the final DLC character for now with Arc System Works not announcing a fifth season yet. She’ll join the roster on August 21st, 2025, and will cap off a pretty incredible run of additional characters that Strive has received over the years. After launching with just 15 characters, the roster is now 32 strong and will grow one stronger in the next few weeks.

As for what Lucy brings to the table, I’m not entirely sure how her style differs from some of the other characters. The typical amazing animation that Arc System Works has cultivated across various fighters is in full force here and Lucy practically looks ripped straight from Edgerunners. I like the focus on her electric whips and it’s neat that she gets a kind of drop-down PC menu to select specific attacks. It will be interesting to see how she plays out in competitions.

While Lucy will mark the end of the current season for Strive, Arc System Works will be updating the game early next year. A full overhaul dubbed “Strive 2.00” is coming in early 2026. A teaser for that doesn’t quite reveal a fifth season, but some new character outlines are shown at the end. It seems that Strive still has life left in it, which is preferable to a new game every other year.
