Over 20 years in the making, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is almost here. Wayforward announced, this morning, that the long-lost Shantae adventure will be hitting PC and consoles on August 19th, 2025. Actually released a few months back for the Game Boy Advance, this belated console port will include the full game along with some HD illustrations and higher resolution support. There will also be a digital deluxe edition available that includes three extra in-game costumes to adorn Shantae in.

Set to be published by Limited Run Games, physical editions for Risky Revolution will also be coming soon. LRG will have  three iterations of the physical release, including the “Regular,” “Classic,” and “Revolutionary” bundles. All physical editions will include the digital deluxe content on disc/cartridge so that you don’t have to miss out on any costumes. Pre-orders will open on August 8th, 2025, with prices ranging from $35 – $175. It will be available for all platforms, which includes PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

The development history behind this game is fascinating, but I’m happy that a specific period of gaming history will finally be available to own. I’ve never gotten into the Shantae series, but I appreciate that Wayforward has a clear passion for the Half-Genie Princess.
