We’re just two mere months into the Nintendo Switch 2’s life cycle, and already it’s hard to imagine the system seeing an accessory stranger than this one.
GamiFries, created by user7R135 on MakerWorld, is an unofficial Joy-Con 2 holder designed to look like a McDonald’s fries box. If you have ever longed for the ability to hold your fast food and your controller at the same time, this is the device for you!
A GamiFries video demonstrates how French fry fanatics can use the accessory in “Controller Mode” and “Handheld Mode” – the latter allows you to connect the food holder directly to your Switch 2 console, in case you ever fancied behaving like an utter maniac. If that doesn’t convince you, perhaps the wonderful sight of greasy control sticks at the end of the demo might.
It is not available for purchase, but if you own a 3D printer, you can make your own GamiFries for free. To make use of both modes, you will also need 24 magnets (25 x 5 x 3 mm) for the connectors to attach to your Joy-Con and console. More details on how to assemble it are on the MakerWorld page.
The product cleverly dodges any potential legal headaches by featuring a hole in the middle. The logo you see in the images is not actually printed on the product, but is from an actual box of McDonald’s fries placed within it. For those wondering, the device is designed to hold a medium-sized box of fries, so those who like to go large may be out of luck.
Given the versatility of the Joy-Con 2 controllers and the rise of 3D printing, this could very well be just the beginning of a trend of insane Switch 2 accessories. We’re excited – and slightly afraid – to see what comes next.
