Xbox plans to bring more game ports to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 soon, according to The Game Business.
In a summary of its latest edition of The Game Business Show podcast, the industry analyst website described a conversation with Mat Piscatella, head of market research company Circana.
The page ends the multi-platform segment by stating, “Xbox is expected to announce more game ports to other platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5, in the coming weeks.”
Piscatella said he believes that releasing games across multiple platforms is essential for success in the current competitive climate.
“People who buy a hardware system these days, they’re doing it because of the ecosystem, because of their friends list. You’re not going to get people to transition consoles because of exclusives anymore. We’re way beyond that point.
“People are entrenched into their systems. And bringing the content to them is the only way to win. And that is what everyone is doing, except for Nintendo they tend to do their own thing. Even they could benefit from it, but of course they won’t, that’s not their MO.”
Earlier this year, CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer shared his desire to support Nintendo Switch 2.
The company has supported Nintendo for a number of years now, with Microsoft-licensed games – such as including the Ori series, Pentiment, and Grounded – having previously appeared on the original Nintendo Switch. It also allowed Banjo-Kazooie to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, and for Goldeneye 007 to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
