If you can believe it, Nintendo has released a new update for Mario Kart Tour to celebrate the launch of Mario Kart World. Coming just over a month after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, this latest update is surprising not just because there’s a new Mario Kart game in the wild, but because Nintendo officially stopped adding new content to its mobile title back in 2023. I guess if there is money to be made, Nintendo isn’t immune to creating new content to cash in.
This new update for Tour will include an entire new season of content that starts with “The Sunshine Tour.” Available starting on July 22nd, the new season will include two new outfits for Mario and Luigi that puts them in their Famicom race gear (which is available in Mario Kart World). There will also be four new karts from World available in Tour. That’s certainly one way to get the word out on your latest Mario Kart installment.
I wouldn’t expect any other updates for Mario Kart Tour to happen in the future, but you never quite know what Nintendo has planned. Just this week, it updated Super Mario Run with some new content for Donkey Kong Bananza, so the age of a game is clearly not a deciding factor here.
