Earlier this month, Square Enix Asia announced via its Facebook account that it would be releasing a physical bundle of Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 for Switch. Slated to release on April 2, 2025, the bundle includes both games in a single box and, supposedly, on a single cartridge. There won’t be any downloading required to get both titles nor will there be any shenanigans going on where only one game is available physically.

While the bundle is technically only for Japan, the release does feature multilingual support, including full English. While there is no price listed on Play-Asia, the current digital bundle in North America retails for $74.99. With the value of the yen having mostly degraded in recent months, it might actually be cheaper to import this release than to get both of the US versions.

Pre-orders are not open just yet, but will likely start soon. It’s interesting that Square Enix is releasing this on the same day that Nintendo will be holding its big Switch 2 unveiling, but I wouldn’t look further into things. While current-gen versions of this series exist (the game is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S), the date likely doesn’t mean anything.
