Today’s Nintendo Direct may have only had a few triple-A games, but it was packed to the brim with exciting indie announcements. One of the overlooked ones was the reveal that the Monument Valley Trilogy would be coming to consoles this year. Developer UsTwo games announced that Monument Valley 1+2 would be hitting Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on April 15, 2025. This will be followed by Monument Valley 3 on PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S this summer (the first two games are already on Steam).
What’s notable about this announcement is that Monument Valley has been exclusive to mobile, apart from its PC ports, for over a decade now. The third installment was released exclusively as a Netflix mobile game, meaning you had to be subscribed to the streaming service to even play it. To be freed from the confines of subscription services is a big win for fans of puzzle games and indie titles.
Monument Valley is also well worth the purchase, too. The first two games are some of the best-reviewed mobile titles ever, and they shot up in popularity after appearing in an episode of House of Cards. Ariana Grande also based some of her music video for “No Tears Left to Cry” on the art style present in the games. The games are similar to execution to Sony’s Echochrome titles, which had players manipulate perspective to solve platforming puzzles. They’re really solid.
