It was starting to look like the Switch, a console that has delivered on nearly every Nintendo franchise of note, would be skipping the quirky charms of Rhythm Heaven. Thankfully today’s Nintendo Direct delivered by announcing Rhythm Heaven Groove, the first new entry in the series in over ten years.

Even more notable is that unlike 2015’s Rhythm Heaven Megamix, this will truly be “new” rather than a collection of mostly past minigames. Expect the familiar elements, including music from Tsunku♂ and plenty of characters that toe the line between adorable and weird. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rhythm Heaven Groove will release on Nintendo Switch in 2026.
