According to a new rumor started by Pyoro, a leaker famous for revealing Nintendo Direct details ahead of time, it seems as if Pokémon Legends: Z-A will include at least 27 new Mega Evolutions when it releases. While they didn’t give a firm number (Pyoro made mention of an ASCII code for ESC, which when added up makes 27), outlet Universo Nintendo then “confirmed” that 27 is accurate and even shared details on some of the critters that would be receiving new evolutions. As always, take this news with a grain of salt, but if you’d also like to avoid spoilers, maybe don’t read any further.

According to Universo Nintendo, they know of four Pokémon that will be getting Mega updates. These include the following:

  • Victreebel
  • Starmie
  • Chandelure
  • Excadrill

It also stands to reason that the announced starter Pokémon (Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig) will likely see their final evolutions get new mega forms. That would only account for seven of the claimed 27, so there are bound to be more surprises in store for Pokémon fans. I would imagine that Nintendo will show off a good portion of these before launch, as it doesn’t tend to leave things up to the imagination.

Currently, Pokémon Legends: Z-A does not have a release date beyond 2025. We do know that it is confirmed for Switch 1, but it will likely have either Switch 2 enhancements or be a cross-generation game.
