It’s the end of an era… again. Earlier this morning, Nintendo of America confirmed that My Nintendo Gold Points, the rewards program that allowed users to earn eShop credit for each eligible purchase, will be discontinued on March 24, 2025.
According to the press release, users will no longer be able to earn Gold Points starting at 9:30 AM PT on March 24. However, existing points will remain valid for an additional 12 months after the program ends. Meanwhile, Platinum Points, which are typically used to redeem physical rewards and digital wallpapers, will remain active beyond the cutoff date.
At this time, Nintendo has not provided any details about a potential replacement for the Gold Point program. But, Nintendo has a golden opportunity to revive the beloved Club Nintendo program, which previously rewarded users with exclusive physical collectibles and digital content.
