Now, before we get started, keep in mind this is NOT an official announcement from Nintendo and should be treated as a rumor for the time being. With that said, strap in, folks!

According to industry insider Nate Drake, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be formally announced by Nintendo this Thursday, January 16th. This news was shared on the Nate the Hate podcast, and you can catch the details at the 18:00-minute mark.

Nate claims the reveal will focus entirely on hardware, with little to no mention of games.

“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any.. really any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”

A minute or so after this statement, he discusses what he heard about games:

“It should be around late February or perhaps early March, depending on how the schedule aligns. These things are fluid, they can adjust. Nintendo will have a software showcase for Switch 2 games. That would be the venue and the presentation where  we would see 3rd party games… Nintendo games.”

Now, the question is: should you believe this? Honestly, we’ve all been burned by rumors before, so it’s understandable to be skeptical. That said, Nate has a solid track record of accurate predictions, so it’s fair to say this is likely happening! Stay tuned for more updates as they come in!
