Tetris 99’s heyday may be well behind it, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from continuing to add new themes every so often. For the final Maximus Cup of 2024, everyone’s favorite battle royale will be adorned with a new theme based on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the newest game in the storied Zelda franchise and the first to star its titular character. It’s about time Zelda got her time to shine… in Tetris.

As with past Tetris 99 events, players just need to earn 100 points to unlock the theme permanently. You earn points simply by playing Tetris 99 matches to their conclusion. If you come in at a higher place, you’ll earn more points, and finishing first will automatically unlock the theme for you. It’s fairly hard to win Tetris 99 at this point, but it’s always fun to mess around with for an hour or so.
