In the long and storied history of video games, mobile games are relatively new territory. While they’ve existed for a long time, up until recently they felt more like time-killing minigames as opposed to full-scale games found on other platforms. Yet now that has changed, and mobile games are blurring that line and even crossing it. Take Hello Kitty Island Adventure for example, the Sanrio take on the cozy game formula. In a little over a month, this wholesome piece of the App Store will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch’s library.
Initially an Apple Arcade exclusive released back in 2023, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a mix of the relaxing Animal Crossing atmosphere along with puzzle solving and platforming. In the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the game would be arriving on the Switch sometime in 2025. No release date was given at the time, however in a trailer shared just last night, the release date was finally confirmed! The game will be available on Nintendo Switch on January 30th, 2025. It isn’t yet known when it will appear on the other platforms, though it likely won’t be too far off.
With around a month and a half to go, the wait won’t be too much longer! If you’re already a fan of games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, or just enjoy a peaceful cozy atmosphere, it might be worth giving Hello Kitty Island Adventure a shot. Of course if you already have Apple Arcade then you don’t need to wait, but there’s something uniquely refreshing about playing on a home console that can make the experience even better.
