As announced just a few months back, Sea of Stars’ major ‘Dawn of Equinox’ update is now live on all console platforms. A major indie RPG hit from 2023, Sea of Stars was built in the vein of Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana and had players setting out with a team of two companions to travel across time and space to stop a world-ending threat. With this new update, you can now experience the entire game in three-player local co-op, much like classic SNES RPGs.

Co-op isn’t the only addition to the game, however. Alongside general quality-of-life improvements, Sea of Stars now features a revamped combat system, an overhauled prologue sequence, extra cinematics for the story, three brand-new difficulty options, and a Quebecois localization. It’s a veritable cornucopia of bonuses that further fleshes out the journey for new and returning players.

What’s next for Sea of Stars?

This major update will also pave the way for Sea of Stars’ upcoming paid DLC, which is titled “Throes of the Watchmaker.” Scheduled for an early 2025 release, that DLC will make full use of all of these tweaks and offer a new bit of story for players to delve into. Sea of Stars may have been released in 2023, but it’s far from being done.
