It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack launched, bringing Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64 classics to the online service. To celebrate the occasion, Nintendo has sent an email to subscribers teasing excitement coming to the service in 2025.

What kind of excitement is coming to the service remains to be seen, but there’s plenty of room for speculation. A handful of beloved Nintendo 64 classics, such as Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing, have yet to join the lineup. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo has something even more substantial in store.

Nintendo announces mysterious Switch Online playtest program

After all, Nintendo recently opened — and quickly closed — online network testing slots for about 10,000 lucky subscribers, raising some eyebrows. This move has sparked speculation that whatever is being tested might tie into a major upcoming reveal for the service. Could it be new multiplayer features, additional platforms, or maybe something more? We’ll just have to wait and see what Nintendo has up its sleeve. And who knows, maybe the long-rumored GameCube support could be coming to the platform before long. Stay tuned!
