One of the most unique marketing tactics in Japan is the Pokémon Manhole Covers, also known as Poké Lids. These covers are scattered throughout the country in cities like Tokyo and Ikaruga, featuring artwork that represents the local area. With the upcoming grand opening of the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, it’s only fitting that a brand-new Poké Lid will be unveiled to grace the historic site!

The lid is a nostalgic nod to Pokémon’s roots, featuring pixel art and Pikachu leaping out of an original Game Boy. According to Nintendo of Japan, the lid has been officially installed at the Nintendo Museum in Tokyo, and visitors will soon be able to see it in person!

The Nintendo Museum officially opens to the public in Tokyo on October 2nd. To learn more about the museum, including their amazing Mii-infused tickets, check out our coverage here!
