In a surprise drop last night, Nintendo added all five of the classic Game Boy Mega Man games to the Switch Online service. While a lot of people are not overly familiar with these games, they existed during a time when portable iterations of NES titles were all the rage. Unlike how most “ports” were horribly compromised, Capcom took some care in bringing the Blue Bomber to Nintendo’s handheld console by crafting unique adventures for the monochromatic device.

Needless to say, if you’re a fan of classic Mega Man and have never played this games, you’re in for a treat. Mega Man 1-5 won’t take you as long as the NES versions, but they all have some unique gimmicks to keep them entertaining. Mega Man V, for instance, is entirely original and not even directly based on its NES namesake. This is likely the closest we’ll get to a “Mega Man: Game Boy Legacy Collection,” so I’ll take it.
