Yesterday morning, the renowned leaker Pyoro caused a stir on Twitter by teasing a picture of a 1990 Nintendo World Championship cartridge. The internet quickly went mad with speculation, with theories about the cryptic tweet spreading like wildfire.

But. today, the mystery has been solved. Earlier this morning, the ESRB uploaded a new listing titled “Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition” for the Nintendo Switch. While details remain scarce, a brief description was provided:

This is a collection of 2D challenges and platformer games in which players traverse through various modes (e.g., speedrun, survival). Several challenges involve reaching specific points, while others prompt players to defeat small enemies or survive brief battles. Some games depict pixelated characters using small swords or arrows to strike at enemies; enemies typically get stunned or disappear in a flash.

No word yet on when we can expect to see the game or how much it will cost, but according to the ESRB listing, we can see it will offer “In-Game Purchases” and it will be rated “E for Everyone”.  Stay tuned to Nintendo Wire for more details as we get them!
