The third installment of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise is speeding towards us, bringing us ever closer to the live action debut of everyone’s favorite edgy hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog. First teased for the third film in the post-credits scene fo Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Shadow is set to properly appear opposite Ben Schwartz’s Sonic and Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Last week, attendees of CinemaCon 2024 got an exclusive look at the first footage from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, featuring Sonic, Shadow, and Robotnik, but, thanks to Shadow’s voice actor being shrouded in secrecy, Shadow was mute for the footage he appeared in. A fresh rumor from John Campea, first reported on by Sonic Stadium and later The Hollywood Reporter tells us that the voice of Sonic’s rival Shadow will be none other than Keanu Reeves, star of The Matrix and John Wick films.

Campea claims he heard the information during a party at CinemaCon last week and was told not to share anything until CinemaCon was over. He expects it to be announced very soon in trade publications like Variety.
