With Sonic the Hedgehog returning to the big screen this December, it was only a matter of time before filming wrapped on the project. On Twitter last night, director Jeff Fowler confirmed what everyone was hoping to hear: all filming for Sonic 3 is now finished. While it didn’t come with any new footage of the movie (which is probably a couple of months away from being shown off), we did get some nice drawings of the characters on a giant clapboard.

We already know that Shadow the Hedgehog will feature in the film, but, interestingly, he is front and center on this clapboard despite not having been shown in a trailer yet. I suppose Paramount, the production company behind Sonic, doesn’t mind teasing fans before his official film design is revealed. The drawings here look closer to what the Sonic games have, though Sonic has parted eyes similar to his film counterpart. There’s unlikely to be a drastic change in how Shadow looks between game and film, however.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is currently scheduled for release on December 20, 2024. It will feature Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, and James Marsden as Sonic’s friend Tom.
