Keyboard players struck a chord in this past weekend’s Splatfest as “Keyboard” emerged supreme in the question of, “Which instrument would you play?” A three-way battle between drums, guitar, and keyboard was unleashed upon Splatsville and the results were fairly conclusive: people really love tinkering with a keyboard.

Unlike some previous Splatfests where the results were definitive, drums and guitar managed to actually score some points. Drums scored 180p while guitar managed 190p, showing an almost even divide between the two. Even if they combined their totals, however, they would not be enough to dethrone keyboard’s 500p. I think that might just be a generic number for any Splatfest winner, but it’s still a solid lead on the competition.
To help cope with the loss, it’s been reported that guitar players have been practicing their EBM key and will be learning Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” in the coming days. Drum players won’t have to worry too much about practicing as they can just wing it. No one even remembers the drum pattern for that song.
What’s up next for Splatoon 3 in March 2024?
With another Splatfest in the books, Nintendo will be inking forward to another monthly challenge for Splatoon 3. At the end of the month (March 29th-30th), players will be able to partake in a Rainmaker challenge. I’m not sure exactly what the details are or if there will be bonus XP awarded, but two stages will be playable during select periods where you’ll get to play my personal favorite game mode in Splatoon.

As for what comes in April, Nintendo hasn’t mentioned anything yet. Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLC was released last month and that seems to be the end of any major post-launch support this game will receive. I wouldn’t anticipate a Splatoon 4 for the Switch 2’s launch, but there might be a major update for the game as we get closer to that console’s release.
