Alongside new sales figures for the Nintendo Switch today, Nintendo’s quarterly financial report included updated numbers for the console’s 10 best selling games. Surprising absolutely no one, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has quickly risen in the ranks of Switch software. In roughly six months, the game has sold 20 million copies.
Breath of the Wild still has a strong lead on ToTK, but considering that game will be celebrating its seventh anniversary soon, the disparity makes sense. 31.61 million copies is a tremendous accomplishment. BoTW has firmly held its lead over Super Mario Odyssey for the last six years.
Top 10 Nintendo Switch Games by Sales
You likely don’t want to hear me reminisce about how incredible the Switch is and how well Nintendo has done with sales. You want to see the raw numbers, don’t you? Honestly, I do too, so here are the current 10 best selling games for the Nintendo Switch.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 60.58 million units
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 44.79 million units
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 33.67 million units
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 31.61 million units
- Super Mario Odyssey – 27.65 million units
- Pokemon Sword and Shield – 26.17 million units
- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – 24.36 million units
- Super Mario Party – 20.34 million units
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 20.28 million units
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 17.20 million units
If we compare these numbers against the total number of Switch units sold (and don’t factor in people buying second or third devices) then something like 40% of all Switch owners have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. That’s truly remarkable.
