On the official Universal Studios Japan YouTube account, the company has uploaded two brief commercials for the upcoming Donkey Kong Country Park expansion of Super Nintendo World. Planned to open in Spring 2024, we know that there will be a brand-new rollercoaster and some new buildings to explore. This commercial doesn’t show anything that could be considered real, but it highlights the Kong coaster in all its zany glory.

Curiously, the theming of this new DKC park seems to be based on Donkey Kong Country Returns instead of the SNES classics. The mockup for the coaster features Tiki Tong, the main villain of the Wii installment, and all of the art is based on Retro Studios’ reimagining of the characters. While this is mere speculation on my part, I would love it if the Super Nintendo World expansion was a stealth confirmation of a third Retro DKC.
