2D-HD RPGs have come into their own during the Switch generation, ever since Octopath Traveler skyrocketed the trend. Indie developer La Moutarde is currently crafting Terra Memoria, a game with a similar aesthetic but plenty of ideas of its own.

The game is described as a “great, big hug of a game” hearkening back to classic RPGs with a group of misfits coming together. Turn-based combat is present and correct plus you’ll be able to build up your own little village over time. A major part of the experience is also learning each region’s local customs, recipes, and more.

Terra Memoria has yet to get a release date but it’ll be playable at Gamescom this weekend and will eventually launch for Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
