Immortals Fenyx Rising was an open world Ubisoft game themed around Greek mythology, released in December 2020 to mildly positive reviews and a moderate number of copies. But that lukewarm reception is apparently not enough for another spin, as Ubisoft has reportedly cancelled a planned sequel due to internal shifts at the company focusing on more prominent and established franchises like Assassin’s Creed.

The sequel was early in development at Ubisoft Quebec (which made the first game), but after some difficulty establishing Immortals as an IP, it’s supposedly scrapped it – after already canning three unannounced games back in January. The company put out an official statement, stating it’s “reallocating some creative teams and resources within the Quebec studio” but not specifying what or how. “The expertise and technologies these teams developed will serve as an accelerator for the development of these key projects focused on our biggest brands. We have nothing further to share at this time.

You can purchase Immortals: Fenyx Rising on the eShop right now if you wish.
