It was recently the annual Nintendo shareholder Q&A, where investors ask the heads of the company about upcoming plans, tenures, and other topics. President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the company’s transition to the next generation of Nintendo console, and he stated that Nintendo plans to make such a transition as smooth as possible, utilizing the Nintendo Account in the process (presumably to avoid lengthy new setup and preserve user data).

Someone else asked a question about the Switch entering its “final phase,” and Nintendo claimed they expect to sell a lot of Switches in 2024, so they’re not concerned about that at the moment. Whether that means the aforementioned transition is happening later rather than sooner, we can’t say for certain. We’ll have to keep an ear out for any official news about the company’s next console before we can say anything for certain.
