There’s just over a month until we’re able to explore a planet with a bunch of little plant buddies (plus a cool dog) in Pikmin 4, so it’s only natural we start seeing more and more from the game. This latest find comes from a unique place, though, with Twitter user Tokyo Game Life spotting a physical download card in a Japanese store.

A bunch of important details can be gleamed from the card. For one, there’s a split-screen multiplayer mode, while elsewhere a second player can support the first by controlling a reticle. We also have confirmation that players will be able to enter houses, something which was possible in a couple of Pikmin 3 bonus missions.

Finally, a copyright logo confirms the game will use Unreal Engine. While it’s not the first Nintendo came to use Epic’s reliable powerhouse (Yoshi’s Crafted World previously used the technology), it is the first game in the Pikmin series to utilise it.

Pikmin 4 will release on July 21st, 2023.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
