Less than a week remains until the release of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, but some secrets still remain to be uncovered. For example – what’s Charles Martinet gonna do? We got previous confirmation that the long time Mario voice actor would be in the movie within a cameo role, but we previously had no idea what said role would entail – and now we may have a bit of a better idea, thanks to a Spanish news site.

eCarterela claims that Martinet will be voicing two characters in the film: Mario’s father, and an unknown man named Giuseppe. He’ll be voicing the characters in both English and Spanish, apparently. It’s impossible to know what function these characters will have in the narrative, though Giuseppe is a very old, almost stereotypical Italian name on the level of… well, Mario and Luigi. Given the nature of the information, something could have also been bungled in the pipeline and these could be the same character. But we’ll have to wait and see.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases next Wednesday, April 5th.
