Yesterday afternoon, Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U eShops stopped allowing new purchases or downloads of free items like demos. However, it was announced that users can still redeem codes on both stores following a deadline extension.
The feature was originally supposed to end alongside the normal shutdown time of the stores, but due to a mistake, Nintendo ended it a few hours early.
Nintendo has now extended the deadline for code redemption to April 4th, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. Japan time. This gives players a few more days to claim any codes they may have lying around. The updated deadline equates to April 3rd at 9:30 p.m. PT, April 4th at 12:30 a.m. ET, 5:30 a.m. in the UK, and 6:30 a.m. in Europe.
In addition to this extension, Nintendo is offering a couple of 3DS themes for free. The Dots & Stripes: Yellow & White and Stars: Gold & Black themes were previously priced at $0.99 each, but are now available at no cost.
